Jika salah satu atau beberapa tanda di atas terlihat:
· Suhu tubuh yang tinggi, pada bayi yang baru lahir seringkali menandakan bahwa si kecil sedang mengalami demam.
· Muntahan yang berulang menimbulkan resiko dehidrasi pada si kecil.
· Buang air besar lebih dari sekali dalam sehari dengan kuantitas yang lebih banyak dari biasanya, lebih cair, dan mengandung lendir atau darah.
· Daerah sekitar mulut kering, mata dan ubun-ubun cekung menandakan bahwa si kecil kekurangan cairan.
· Tidak memiliki napsu makan.

11.Kapankah bayi baru dapat melihat dengan fokus dan membedakan obyek yang
dilihatnya ?
Paham umum yang berlaku mengatakan bahwa bayi baru dapat melihat dengan jelas beberapa bulan stelah lahir. Namun,dengan cara pengujian tertentu kini telah diketahui bahwa hanya beberapa minggu setelah kelahirannya, si kecil sudah dapat melihat dan membedakan obyek yang dilihatnya. Hanya saja, jarak pandangnya masih sangat terbatas, yaitu 8 – 15 inci dari matanya. Sesungguhnya ini adalh jarak yang terentang antara wajah bayi dengan wajah ibu ketika menyusui.

12.Mungkinkah menyusui dalam posisi tidur pada malam hari menyebabkan infeksi telinga pada bayi baru ?
Menyusui si kecil dengan posisi tidur sama sekali tidak ada hubungannya dengan infeksi telinga si kecil. Sebaliknya, menyusui pada malam hari, apapun posisinya. justru membantu ibu menyiapkan produksi ASI-nya, yang berarti menurunkan resiko infeksi telinga pada si kecil.

13.Apakah jadwal imunisasi bayi prematur berbeda dengan bayi lahir cukup bulan ?
Anak yang lahir prematur memang memiliki banyak kekhususan. Ada yang perkembangannya lebih lambat dibandingkan dengan bayi lahir cukup bulan, dan ada yang justru lebih cepat. Tetapi semua itu sehubungan dengan perkembangannya. Perlu diketahui bahwa jadwal imunisasi tidak diatur berdasarkan perkembangan dan kematangan usia kelahiran, melainkan berdasarkan kebutuhan si kecil yang dihubungkan dengan waktu setelah si kecil lahir.

14.Apakah bayi baru lahir sudah bisa mendengar dengan sempurna ?
Kemampuan mendengar sudah sangat baik dimiliki si kecil (yang lahir tidak dengan kendala kemampuan mendengar) sejak lahir. Namun, reaksi si kecil dalam menanggapi berbagai bunyi- bunyian sangat berbeda dengan kita, orang dewasa. Bayi baru biasanya hanya mengerdip, bergidik, atau menahan napas ketika mendengar bunyi-bunyian. Setelah sedikit besar, biasanya respons si kecil terhadap bunyi akan berkembang. Penggunaan sikat gigi pada anak, umumnya dilakukan ketika setengah dari jumlah keseluruhan gigi sudah tumbuh. Dan biasanya ini terjadi ketika anak berusia 2 tahun.

17.Berapakali sehari bayi baru lahir perlu dimandikan ?
Pada minggu-minggu awal kehidupan, mandi biasanya menjadi saat yang mencemaskan, baik bagi bayi maupun orangtua. Pada minggu pertamanya bayi baru tidak dimandikan dalam bak melainkan dilap dengan handuk lembut yang dilembabkan. 20.Bagaimana mengajarkan si kecil bersabar ?
Anak belajar berperilaku dengan mencontoh perilaku kita ketika memberi respon kepada mereka. Faktor penentu yang dapat membantu si kecil belajar untuk bersabar mendapatkan perhatian kita adalah dengan membuatnya mengerti bahwa Anda tidak selalu datang ketika dia menangis. Ketika Anda sedang melakukan sesuatu saat dia menangis, bersuaralah, Misalnya dengan mengatakan agar dia menunggu sebentar, Anda akan segera datang setelah selesai melakukan sesuatu. Jika ini senantiasa dilakukan, si kecil lambat laun akan mengerti bahwa kebutuhannya tetap akan terpenuhi sekalipun harus menunggu sebentar.

21.Dapatkah jus buah diberikan pada bayi ?
Saat masih mendapat ASI ekslusif, bayi belum membutuhkan makanan tambahan lain, kecuali jika dokter menyarankannya. Ini berarti bayi sebaiknya tidak mendapatkan apa pun, baik air putih, sereal ataupun jus. Seluruh kebutuhan gizi si kecil pada usia ini didapatnya dari ASI. Sesaat setelah mendapatkan makanan padat, biasanya setelah berusia 4 bulan, si kecil dapat segera diberikan jus. Hanya saja, jangan memberinya lebih dari setengah gelas sehari, dan pastikan si kecil mendapatkan jus setelah makan makanan padat dan minum ASI.

22.Apakah memar pada bayi menandakan ia kekurangan vitamin ?
Kekurangan vitamin biasanya tidak menyebabkan memar pada kulit. Memar-memar pada bayi yang aktif, umumnya dianggap wajar. Tetapi jika si kecil lebih sering mengalami memar-memar dibandingkan dengan anak lain, segera berkonsultasilah ke dokter.

23. Mengapa bayi seringkali menolak minum ketika sakit ?
Biasanya bayi menolak minum ketika sakit karena radang di tenggorokannya. Jika hal ini terjadi, cobalah memberi minum dengan cara menyendokkan cairan sedikit demi sedikit. Jangan biarkan si kecil yang sedang sakit tidak menyentuh cairan sama sekali, karena dapat mengakibatkan ia mengalami dehidrasi ( Kekurangan cairan dalam tubuh – Red ).

24.Mungkinkah demam tinggi yang diderita pada masa bayi mengakibatkan kerusakan
otak ?
Sekalipun pada dasarnya membuat anak merasa tidak nyaman, demam yang disebabkan infeksi ringan, tidak akan menyebabkan kerusakan otak. Yang perlu diingat adalah, infeksi biasa tidak akan menaikkan suhu tubuh lebih dari 41° C.

25.Mengapa kulit di daerah sudut mata bayi seringkali kering dan mengelupas?
Ada banyak hal yang menyebabkan kulit didaerah sudut mata bayi sering kali kering dan mengelupas. Tetapi sebab yang umum adalah karena infeksi bakteri atau tersumbatnya kelenjar air mata.
